When word of the Minuteman Project reached Mexico,
a decision was made by someone (or a lot of people) not to confront
them. They knew the Minutemen were serious, whereas the American
government was not. Something similar happened back in 1955 when
President Eisenhower deported more than a million Mexicans. Word
got out that the United States wasn't going to tolerate illegal
immigration. "It is a simple matter of demonstrating that
we are serious about enforcing our laws, and that includes building
a huge barrier system, and they will simply stop coming,"
said Glenn Spencer of American Patrol. The Minutemen should be
proud he added.
