ABP Border Cams Featured on Fox News
"Couch Patrol" Patrolling the Border From New York
Happening Now -- Fox News -- April 24
American Border Patrol's Operation Vigilance border camera system was featured yesterday on Fox News' Happening Now. Fox viewers watched as Fox technicians operated the border camera from New York, scanning the border for intruders. Glenn Spencer, head of ABP, explained that the camera system is on their ranch on the Mexican border and has been used to track, interdict and apprehend illegal aliens and drug smugglers. "Quite an idea as the government is now struggling to try to fix its virtual fence that it is trying to fix its Project 28 that there has been a lot of criticism over," said Fox Host Jane Skinner."
Spencer was pleased with the national coverage although he said the image quality shown on TV had been degraded somewhat. "Now I hope someone will do a live show at night when we get a lot of action and can showcase our powerful thermal camera," Spencer said.
ABP is currently working to expand the system along the border. "Within sixty days we should be able to cover twenty miles of the border," he added.
