Schumer: Inadequate Technology to Guard U.S-Mexico Border
The political game of chicken that the Democrats are playing with immigration reform became clearer Wednesday. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), after touring the U.S.-Mexico border with Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), and Michael Bennet (D-CO), protested the efficacy of trying to stem the immigration tide.
"In so many ways, whatever your views are on immigration, Arizona is ground zero," Schumer declared. "What I learned today is we have adequate manpower, but not adequate technology."
This is how the Democrats plan to sink the GOP on immigration: because border security is a prerequisite for any GOP immigration plan, when Schumer and the Democrats say it is technologically impossible, they kill the present bill. Then they claim it's the GOP's fault the immigration bill died because of their insistence on border security.
Schumer, McCain, Flake, and Bennet represent half of the "Gang of Eight," which has been trying to finalize an immigration reform bill.
Schumer, who had never seen the border before, remarked, "You can read and you can study and you can talk but until you see things it doesn't become reality, I'll be able to explain this to my colleagues." He added, "Many of my colleagues say, 'Why do we need to do anything more on the border?' and we do. We should do more."
