CAIR ALERT!
RALLY AND PRESS CONFERENCE TO PROTEST DENVER'S "SANCTUARY" POLICY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

MONDAY, MAY 16 -- NOON, DENVER CITY AND COUNTY BUILDING

1437 BANNOCK ST. (Map & Directions --- Click 'Satellite for Aerial View)

JOIN US TO PROTEST !!

Folks,

You have heard about the Denver Police officer who was assassinated in cold blood by an illegal alien employed at Mayor Hickenlooper's restaurant. We express our deep sadness and regret that this has occurred. The event has been covered on talk radio, in the newspapers and on national news networks.

The horror is that Denver has an illegal alien "sanctuary policy" (Executive Order 116), implemented by former Mayor Webb in 1998, which:

* Declares Denver's strong opposition to federal distinctions between legal immigrants and commits city officials "to the delivery of services to all of its residents.''

* Asserts that federal policy "unfairly impacts many of Denver's children, senior citizens and disabled residents.''

* Vows that the city will back legal rights of all residents in Denver, adding that Webb will urge businesses, schools, hospitals and universities to do the same.

Denver's "sanctuary policy is nothing more than a de facto amnesty for illegal aliens, including known felons. Denver's police department operations manual was subsequently modified to state, "Generally, officers will not detain, arrest, or take enforcement action against a person solely because he/she is suspected of being an undocumented immigrant. The city's sanctuary policy prevents Denver's police officers from notifying immigration authorities about the presence in Denver of illegal aliens. This amnesty for foreign criminals places the safety and welfare of citizens at risk, and IT MUST STOP NOW!!

CAIR PRESS CONFERENCE AND RALLY

WHEN: THIS MONDAY, MAY 16, NOON

WHERE: On the steps of the Denver City and County Building at 1437 Bannock St. One block south of Colfax, one block west of Broadway, across from City Center Park. (Map & Directions --- Click 'Satellite for Aerial View)

Several invited guest speakers will speak. Congressman Tom Tancredo is invited, but will likely be in DC. Immediately following, CAIR's leaders will attempt to meet with the Mayor Hickenlooper to deliver a formal letter detailing their demand that this policy immediately be rescinded and replaced with explicit language and policies that encourage full cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

ACT NOW: Folks, if you as are MAD AS HELL as we are about this, NOW is the time to act. Take a long lunch hour and join the protest where we will be demanding, not "asking" for these changes. Bring your friends. The more people, the better. Please don't send us an email saying you support our efforts - demonstrate your support by showing up. Take an hour or two and show the Mayor your opinion with your physical presence. Democracy is not a spectator sport.

GUIDELINES:
- Bring a sign. Get some posterboard and markers at the office supply store and make a few signs. Bring extra signs for those who may not have time to make them. No wooden sticks - just the cardboard or posterboard. We want the messages to be specific to Denver's sanctuary policy. Few words, large bold lettering:

NO SANCTUARY FOR ILLEGALS
SANCTUARY NO, DEPORTATION YES
PROTECT CITIZENS, END SANCTUARY
International red "no" symbol over the word sanctuary
Write Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform or www.CAIRCO.org in smaller letters across the bottom if you can.

- Carry an American flag. A small one is fine. Bring one for a friend. Possible sources: Flags Unlimited, 5556 S. Syracuse St., downtown Littleton, Army-Navy surplus stores; possibly Target and Kmart; check the yellow pages.
- Do not obstruct pedestrian traffic into the building.
- No confrontations - no violence. We have a request in to Denver Police for police protection.

Bring your friends. Please pass this on to your friends and to all concerned individuals.

This is a CAIR-sponsored event; Mike McGarry and Fred Elbel are the spokespersons and coordinators for the rally. Feel free to speak to the press, but please keep your comments focused on Denver's sanctuary policy, not other aspects of mass immigration.

See you there!

Sincerely,

Fred Elbel
