IT MAY BE A MELTING POT, BUT THERE'S STILL A RECIPE

by H. Millard (c) 1999

Once again the Orange County (California) Register gives evidence that we live in a new Dark Age characterized by intellectual stagnation and unsupported bigotry. In an August 24 editorial, "Anaheim schools open sore subject," the Register makes a nutty argument for "open immigration."

In this new Dark Age, unlike the earlier one between the 5th and 10th centuries A.D. it's not the unchallengable belief that the Earth is the center of the solar system that is the defining cliché of the age, but the belief that people are fungible and that this person is the same as that person--as though people are just sacks of potatoes.

The ignorance and bigotry of our age involves race, and the Register seems to be an organ of the cult of "anti-racism." In this anti-racism cult, the belief is that the United States should have open borders because, well, because "Why June, we're a nation of immigrants." Gag.

The truth is that for most of the history of the U.S. we were a nation of European immigrants and the United States was actually a New Europe and that's what made the nation great. Although history is being rewritten in this country so that impressionable minds now may even believe that the Tuskegee Airmen won WWII or that it wasn't really Byrd who crossed the North Pole first, but his black employee, the truth is that the U. S. was a European invention.

To think that the United States would be what it is today had the nation had a non-European dominant strain build and occupy this largely vacant land is to be blind to what has happened to other new World countries that were occupied by non-European strains of humans. Look at Haiti. With its natural beauty and climate Haiti should be a paradise on Earth. Instead it's a hell on Earth. This is directly attributable to the people who dominate Haiti. Look at most of the Third World in this hemisphere and you'll see the same thing.

The point is that genes matter and people are bundles of genes and they, no less than insects or so called lower animals, will act according to their essential natures as determined by their genes adapting to various environmental factors.

If the United States had had the ancestors of the present Haitians as its founders and Haiti had the ancestors of the founders of the United States as its present population, the United States would more than likely be hell on Earth today and Haiti would be a paradise. The roles would be reversed. If you doubt this, then please keep your knee from jerking and keep your mouth from spewing the usual cliche "anti-racist" hate terms; instead give some examples. There are none.

Open immigration, which today means primarily Third World immigration, will change the genetic makeup of the United States so much that the nation will fall to Third World standards---and isn't that what we're already seeing in our large cities? The U.S. may, for the sake of argument, be a melting pot but you have to have the right ingredients or the end product is ruined. Let's continue to follow the recipe that has made the United States a place that everyone wants to come to, by not allowing those who have ruined their own countries from fleeing their messes and doing here what they did there.

Let's overcome our Great White Mother and Lord Jim complexes that arrogantly lead us to believe that we can somehow "ennoble" all the world's people by making them "just like us," by having them rub elbows with us. And, isn't such an arrogant, but often unspoken and subconscious, belief what is behind much of this talk of open immigration? Isn't such a call, when you get to the core of the belief, similar to that misplaced dogoodism that propelled earlier Europeans to force little American Indian children into Indian schools where they could learn to be white?

Aren't those who are pushing Third World immigration to the U.S. suffering from the arrogant secret racist belief that there's something magical (but, daaaaaahhhhhling, not racial---you know, that would be sooooo racist) in the U.S. and that somehow various Third World peoples will be transformed into Europeans, albeit with different paint jobs, just by being near Europeans?

Spare me the cries of racist. Science and truth have immunized me from such bigoted name calling.

It's time the U.S. learned what every good artist knows: You have to know when to lift that brush from the canvas. You have to know when to stop. Otherwise you ruin what you've made.
