On the morning of September ll while at my desk in Arlington, VA, I heard an astonishing number of sirens from the streets below. So many that I could not separate them and tell where they were.

I already knew that the World Trade Center had been bombed. Then my wife, in Washington DC, called and said the Pentagon had just been bombed. I swiveled my chair and saw for the first time the blast crater in the Pentagon. I stayed on the phone with my wife and described the burning Pentagon. Black smoke billowed and then swirled into the mushrooming cloud of white smoke. The giant flames could only rarely penetrate the gargantuan smoke clouds.

As you know, a driver's license is needed to board a flight. Today I read in the Arlington Journal that Luis A. Martinez-Flores, an illegal alien from El Salvador, is Federally-charged with helping two of the l9 terrorists get Virginia Department of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses.

An illegal alien helped the terrorists get on the jets to do their evil.

I don't want to ever again hear sirens like I heard on September ll. None of us should ever again hear them. Lawlessness breeds lawlessness. Disregard for the law breeds more disregard. For most illegal aliens, the very first moments of life in the United States were filled with illegality. Illegal aliens don't respect our border laws. Why should we expect them to respect something as dull as driver's license laws? At least one didn't. Thousands died.

Can the illegal aliens in Marietta, GA ever show enough patriotism to make up for Martinez-Flores. I doubt it.

I suggest that the Marietta authorities take advantage of 8 U.S.C. l357(g) and enable the police and sheriff agencies, when needed, to perform the functions of Immigration and Naturalization Service officers. Now is the time to ask the illegal aliens to go home. IF they do not go, we must then deport them. We Americans have work to do.

We just learned how vulnerable we are. We learned that the Visa system lets the worst of people into our country. We need to straighten out the laws and processes governing visas. Illegal aliens are an unnecessary distraction from getting that done. Now is the time for illegal aliens to show their appreciation to America and go home.
