DotJuan Hernandez, head of the government's Office of Mexicans Living Outside Mexico, told U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo that the North American southwest "is not two countries; it's just a region." More......

"I never knew the border as a limitation. I'd be delighted if all of us could come and go between these two marvelous countries,'' Hernandez, 45, said in a recent interview. (Associated Press article, 7/14/01, found on KIRO-TV website.)

They discuss the Mexican government's efforts to prevent deaths of migrants making their way to the United States.
