Since 1991, Judges Departed from Sentencing Guidelines
in Favor of Aliens
Depart from Federal Guidelines
As shown at left, since 1991, federal
judges have given aliens (yellow bars) more lenient sentences
than American citizens (blue bars). In 2001, non-citizens were
given lighter sentences than called for by federal guidelines
28% of the time, whereas citizens were given lighter sentences
only 13% of the time. (See study
- scroll down page.)
|For another example of preferential
treatment of aliens, see today's rumor
mill for story on how an illegal alien from Nigeria was released
from prison before even serving his sentence.
