On the campus of Novato High School today, according to eyewitness accounts, a gang of five, described as Mexicans, surrounded Andrew Smith, the author of an article on illegal immigration, and attacked him. Smith, not having made the first punch, defended himself, and fought back. Smith, and at least one of the gang members, were suspended from the school because of the fight. It could not be immediately determined if any of the Mexican gang were illegal aliens.

Smith wrote an article regarding immigration for his school paper. When the paper was distributed throughout the school, a violent reaction ensued by many of the Mexican students, plus a small number of sympathizers. The protesting students stormed out of their classrooms, and proceeded to run wild on the campus, ranting, swearing, creating a major disturbance.

The protesting students went throughout the school, barging into classrooms, attempting to incite a riot, asking all students to walk out of school in protest.

The school's administration later censored the article and apologized to the protesters, a number of whom are suspected to be illegal aliens themselves. At a public forum held by the school administration, at least one student admitted flatly that she was an illegal alien, but demanded "respect," and declared she had "rights."

One woman from the Novato Multi-Cultural Center at the forum said, "first of all, let me make one thing clear, there is no such thing as an illegal person." The administration was confronted by mostly Mexican, and American parents of Mexican, and/or of Central/South American descent. There was no mention of whether or not people from other countries should be allowed to come into the United States illegally, but there was near unanimous outrage with the article by those in attendance.

One lady, who claimed to know the head of the ACLU personally, who described herself as a Jew, and that at one time had somebody spray paint swastikas on her garage, said that the article was hate speech, and that it would incite violence by white students against Mexican students.

Well, so far, the violence has come from the Mexican students in the form of their initial chaotic protest, and now the direct physical assault on the author of the article.

One student said, "I wonder if the school administration did not invite this attack. After all, they were the one's who apologized for the article, and they never disciplined any of the students who went around the campus ranting and raving when the article first came out."

This story received national attention when Michael Savage discussed it on his national radio program. As a result of that nationwide exposure, letters have been pouring into the school, with near unanimous support for Smith's right to free speech, and the desire to have illegal aliens deported from the United States.
