Glenn Spencer on the Anaheim Rally
December 9, 2001
Should anyone be surprised at the biased reporting in the Los Angeles Times and Daily News? The "In Defense of America" rally was organized by American Patrol and the California Coalition for Immigration Reform. It was to be a peaceful rally, as we intend all of our rallies to be. The Orange County Register opens with "If they came looking for a fight, they sure got one." We did not come looking for a fight, we came to demand enforcement of our immigration laws. If anyone knew we were going to be in front of the city hall, it was the Anaheim Police Department. When the communists showed up, bent as they usually are, on disrupting our peaceful rally, the cops were nowhere to be found. When the punches started flying the cops were nowhere to be found. It was a repeat of last year's Fourth of July attack at the Federal Building. We were attacked because the cops refused to give us protection. The federal police had to step in and break up the attack in the middle of Wilshire Blvd. For that, Jim McDonald, head of the Federal Protective Service in Southern California, was removed from duty,
As I was trying to take video shots of the counter-demonstrators, one attacked me. I grabbed the flag he was using as a weapon and tore it from his hands. A struggle ensued and my camera was knocked to the ground. Still running, it was pointing at Anaheim Blvd. Over the cries of "call 911" the camera recorded an Anaheim Police car driving by. After knocking the attacker over a wall, I picked up my camera and recorded an older gentleman mopping blood from his face. I interviewed him on camera. He is a Korean War Navy vet. He said he never thought he would be fighting for his country in Anaheim.
More later.
