Tricky
logic
The article, "Gov.-elect
divided on immigrants" (Times, Oct. 13) begins, "Gauging
where Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger stands on immigration
issues can be tricky business." Since the article is about
illegal aliens, not "immigrants," the title itself
is appropriately tricky.... |

v Bush....
...In the wake of September 11th, most
people accepted that some form of clampdown on immigrants was
justified. The hijackers, all foreigners, had brutally exposed
the inadequacies of America's immigration system. The Bush administration's
response has come in three basic parts: stepping up policing
of immigrants inside the country... |

and Arnold Schwarzenegger
I just called Arnold's
office. They have received phone calls re Arnold supporting the
amnesty. The person I spoke to said that the info is not correct.
Please urge supporters on our side to flood his office with phone
call. This will help pressure him to back away from the amnesty.
Thanks! -- [Transition Office: 916-321-9300 -- More

It is this reporter's opinion that the
president took a hands-off approach to California's recall until
we arrived at a decision and the choice of Arnold
Schwarzenegger as the governor-elect. Now Bush and Schwarzenegger
are embracing, both sending out mixed signals on immigration.
