patrols start today
The Texas Minutemen begin to patrol a
25-mile stretch between Fabens and Fort Hancock today, a spot
group members chose from other locations on the border, in part,
because of the welcome they received from Sheriff Leo Samaniego.

Troopers to Arrest Illegal Aliens
Montgomery, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama will
soon more than double the number of state troopers that have
the authority to arrest illegal immigrants. Governor Bob Riley
announced Friday that 25 state troopers will begin federal immigration
law enforcement training next month at the Center for Domestic
Preparedness in Anniston. |

aliens arrested in Florida 'Clean Sweep' operation
Miami -- Authorities arrested 99 people
from 29 countries in a weeklong operation targeting alien fugitives,
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Friday.
-- Many of those arrested in Operation Clean Sweep had criminal
convictions for violent crimes, officials said. Some had allegedly
evaded capture for years. |
