Dole unveils ad featuring Sheriff Davis
Immigration has become a major theme of the North Carolina U.S. Senate race between incumbent Sen. Elizabeth Dole and state Sen. Kay Hagan.
Both candidates held forums with law enforcement officials this week, and Dole is running a TV ad that features Henderson County Sheriff Rick Davis.
Davis worked in recent months to get approval for a program that gives counties the ability to begin deportation proceedings. He recently traveled to Washington D.C. and met with Dole, Sen. Richard Burr, Rep. Heath Shuler and Rep. Patrick McHenry. He said Dole worked the hardest to get the county approved for the deportation program.
