Approach-Avoidance Conflict
Media Talk About Immigration But Avoid the Border Issue

American Patrol Commentary -- June 9

"Both parties duck on immigration"
Is another example as to why the Associated Press cannot be trusted to report the truth about illegal immigration.
AP fails to report that Obama and McCain differ on the issue. McCain says border security must be established before comprehensive immigration reform can be addressed. Obama says they must be addressed together. This is an important difference. (There is more nonsense in this report than space permits to expose.)
But it doesn't stop with the AP. Other outlets are working hard to avoid revealing McCain's border-control-first position.
L.A. Times
"Immigration. Lately, McCain has been trying to shore up conservative support by backing away from bills he cosponsored in 2005 and 2006, which would create a guest worker program and provide a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants; now he says he'd focus on securing the border first. Yet that doesn't stop him from touting his immigration reforms when visiting states like California, with high populations of Latino voters and many companies that employ immigrants. Obama backs identical goals."
Not true – Obama does not support securing the border first. Continued here....
