(Burlingame, CA) -- The semi-annual California Republican Party Convention was rocked Saturday morning by several hundred enthusiastic supporters of U.S. Senate candidate Howard Kaloogian who met for a rally against SB1160, the bill that would allow illegal aliens to get a California driver licenses.

Hundreds of people chanted "Enough is Enough" and "Stop them at the border." Many carried signs that read "No Illegal Alien Driver License." There were also signs that said "No Terrorist Driver's License" with a photo of Osama bin Laden on a California driver license. All were rewarded by the arrival of Congressman Tom Tancredo who had flown in from Colorado to San Francisco for a 15-minute speech to endorse Howard Kaloogian in the Republican Senate Primary Race on Super Tuesday, March 2nd. He told the cheering crowd that he needed help in Congress to solve the immigration problem in the country, and that he had no allies in the Senate, and that Kaloogian would be such an ally. Tancredo also said that he would travel the same distance every day if it would help him get additional allies in Washington to work for genuine immigration enforcement. The MCs for the event were KSFO radio talk show hosts Melanie Morgan and Brian Sussman.

Ron Prince and Glynn Custred of the new Save our State initiative explained the new initiative and asked for support.

Mike Spence, President of Save Our License, who led the referendum effort to stop the law signed by Gov. Gray Davis, just prior to his recall, promised that if SB1160 was signed by the governor, that he would go back to work to stop that law as well.

Rick Oltman, Western Field Director of FAIR told the crowd that the 9-11 hijackers had used weak driver license laws in several states to accumulate 63 driver licenses between them, and they had used those licenses to evade detection and capture, and ultimately used them as ID to board the aircraft they used to murder Americans on that terrible day. "I know Gil Cedillo," Oltman said. "And I don't think Gil Cedillo wants terrorists to get a California driver license. Gil Cedillo wants illegal aliens to get driver licenses, and the fact that terrorists could use the same loopholes to get one isn't stopping him from trying to pass this law."
