Sacramento -- August 11, 2003 -- Despite claims
by California Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante to the contrary, California
Proposition 187, the initiative to cut off taxpayer funds for
illegal aliens and passed by 59% of voters, was not killed by
the courts, it was killed by Governor Gray Davis. He joined with
Mexican President Zedillo to make sure it didn't make it to the
U.S. Supreme Court.
